Berlin/Düsseldorf, 2. February 2026 Trading Hub Europe GmbH (THE) conducts short-term special tenders for contracting external balancing gas for the product “Long-Term Options” (LTO) in the product variant “Rest of the Day.”

The LTO product was adapted in 2015, can also be used for grid stability purposes, and is used regularly. Most recently, LTOs were contracted in October 2025 for the months of January, February, and March 2026. This is not a measure pursuant to the Storage Act (§35a ff. EnWG).

The subject of the tenders is the provision of balancing gas at selected storage connection points in balancing gas (sub)zones of the market area. The tenders are intended to ensure that local balancing gas requirements can also be met in high-load scenarios.

The tenders are for the performance periods from February 15, 2026, 6 a.m., to March 1, 2026, 6 a.m., and from March 1, 2026, 6 a.m. to March 15, 2026, 6 a.m. Bids can be submitted to THE from February 3, 2026, 12 p.m. to February 10, 2026, 12 p.m. THE will award the contract by February 12, 2026, 4 p.m.

“If going forward we should identify further requirements, additional tenders may be held,” says Dr. Sebastian Kemper, Managing Director of THE. “In addition, approved suppliers can also submit bids for the load reduction balancing product at any time.”
