The Data Hub for the hydrogen market area

At the end of 2025, THE was designated as the market area manager for the hydrogen market area. Since then, THE has been consistently driving forward preparations to implement the requirements set forth in the Federal Network Agency’s hydrogen regulations.

An important and, in this form, novel element is the establishment of an internet-based central data exchange platform (Data Hub). In the future, it will play a central role in the communication and operation of the hydrogen market.

The bidding process for the implementation of the Hydrogen Data Hub has been successfully completed. Together with the selected IT service provider, implementation is now being driven forward systematically. This marks another important milestone on the path to realizing the Data Hub.

The Data Hub is scheduled to be established by July 1, 2027, and will then be tested in a pilot phase together with market participants through January 1, 2028.

With the successful conclusion of the bidding process and the implementation project now underway, the development of the Hydrogen Data Hub is entering its next crucial phase. THE is thereby establishing the technical foundations for efficient, secure, and future-oriented data exchange in the hydrogen market.
