At the end of 2025, Trading Hub Europe GmbH (THE) was designated as the market area manager for hydrogen and has since been consistently driving forward preparations for implementing the requirements set out in the Federal Network Agency’s hydrogen regulations.
A key and novel element of this implementation is the development of a centralized, internet-based data exchange platform (Data Hub), which will play a crucial role in communication and the operation of the hydrogen market in the future.
The corresponding tender documents were published on “Deutsches Vergabeportal” (DTVP). With the launch of this tender, another important milestone has been reached. The procedure is a negotiated procedure with a prior call for competition in accordance with the German Sektorenverordnung (§§ 13, 15 SektVO). THE is relying on strong market interest and broad participation from potential providers in order to secure high-performance and innovative solutions. The Data Hub is to be established by July 1, 2027, and tested with market participants during a rollout phase until January 1, 2028.
